What is AIDS?

What Caused AIDS?

According to an official report, there are approximately 38.4 million were globally reported at the end of the year 2021. This might have increased in the year 2023.

What Transmitted AIDS?

• Breast milk

Symptoms of AIDS

Stages of HIV

AIDS-causing virus HIV can be present in multiple stages and each stage acts differently in the body and engulfs your immune system slowly. There are a total of three main stages of HIV, these are as follows – 

• Acute HIV Infection – Acute HIV Infection is the earliest stage of HIV, infected person feels flu-like symptoms during this stage. The level of the HIV virus is very high in the blood at this stage so the risk of transmission increases. It is said that the one who starts ART (Antiretroviral therapy) in this stage may experience benefits in their health.
• Chronic HIV Infection – Chronic HIV Infection is the second stage of HIV, an infected person does not experience flu-like symptoms and HIV can take 10 years to develop in the advanced stage. Sometimes more than 10 years or less than 10 years. Chronic HIV Infection is still transmissible but if you are taking ART as prescribed then the risk of transferring HIV to a non-infected partner during sex reduces.    
• AIDS – AIDS is the final and most severe stage of HIV. At this stage, the infected person loses their ability to fight against the disease because their immune system got weakened. Without treatment, people infected with AIDS can not survive more than 2-3 years.

Worlds AIDS Day 2023 will be celebrated on 1 December to stand with all the people infected with AIDS and to spread awareness about the disease. As we know now how drastic AIDS disease is, it is very important to disperse awareness about AIDS, and for that reason every year World AIDS Day is celebrated on 1 December. This day for AIDS was first observed in the year 1988 by WHO.

World AIDS Day Theme 2022 is “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV.” The main message this theme gives us is testing, prevention, and access to HIV care because people who are experiencing symptoms of AIDS do not get tested due to the social stigma and shame but they do not know there is nothing wrong with it. AIDS is also a disease like others. So we need to spread this awareness in the world by celebrating a day for AIDS, AIDS-infected people, and people who died due to AIDS.
