Actually, there has been an executive authority, Gujrat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) that is a joint venture between the state Government of Gujrat and the Central Government of India as an awarding body of the Metro Project.

Surat Metro Project Cost
The estimated Surat Metro Project cost is ₹12,020.32 Crore. According to the media reports, French Development Agency has funded the project with an amount of Rs 1970 Crore.
Apart from that, some amount is raised through loans from Germany Development Bank KfW. A few days ago there was news that KfW has also given an additional loan of Rs 3,464 crore for the Surat Metro Rail Project.

Surat Metro First Phase
Surat Metro First Phase is under construction and is consist of two lines – Line 1 & Line 2. Line 1 is named Red Line and Line 2 is named Line Green. So the Surat Metro Project Phase 1 will be completed with the completion of Line Red and Line Green.

Surat Metro Line 2 route will connect Bhesan to Saroli by covering a total distance of 18.74 km elevated metro system. There will be a total of 18 metro stations on this line.
