Bhavish was brought up in Ludhiana, India when he was 10. So he continued his schooling there and went to Kota, Rajasthan to prepare for the IIT. He prepared for the IIT entrance exam by living in Kota for around one year but could not clear the exam and came back to Ludhiana.

For the initial need to start a business, Bhavish invested all his savings from his previous job and started Ola and also raised around Rs 34 Lakh from Kunal Bahl (Snapdeal Founder), Rehan Yar Khan (Capitalist), and Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com) and also established the first office of Ola in a mall of Powai in a 1BHK space and started operations with a website – Olatrips.com.
